CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY

The Traffic Engineering Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of the Traffic Division of the Public Works Department, including all planning, design, operations and maintenance of the City's traffic and transportation system and infrastructure. The incumbent must establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with consulting engineers, designers, contractors, Federal, State and local agency representatives, property owners, utility companies, the general public and other City employees.

Employment Standards

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering or a closely related field and a minimum of five years of experience in traffic and transportation activities, including a minimum of three years of supervisory experience, or any combination of relevant education and experience sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties listed above.

Supplemental Requirements

Comprehensive knowledge of: Considerable knowledge of: Ability to:Extensive managerial experience and background in traffic and transportation principles involving planning, design, operations and maintenance of traffic system infrastructure.
