The
California Children's Services (CCS) section of the Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for
Occupational Therapy Assistants who assist Licensed Occupational Therapists in the assessment of patient needs and in administering individual and group therapy programs. Occupational Therapy Assistants conduct treatment sessions; observe responses to treatment; modify treatment technique during sessions as needed under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist; provide instruction in daily living activities and provide encouragement to patients to attempt new activities; communicate with the supervisor and other health team members about the patient's therapy progress, problems, or treatment plans; document and maintain charts and records; assist in providing caregiver instruction; order supplies and maintain inventories of tools and equipment used in activities. Perform other tasks as assigned.
The current vacancy exists in Victorville. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancies and may be used to fill future vacancies within the DPH as they occur throughout the County.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Assignment location: The current vacancy exists in Victorville but incumbents may be assigned to multiple work sites.
Physical: May be required to lift or assist in lifting children over fifty (50) pounds.
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.
Visa Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require Visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.
Travel: Travel throughout the county will be required. Employees may be required to make provision for transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Minimum RequirementsLicense: Must be licensed as an
Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) by the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT). List the license number and expiration date on the application. A legible copy of the OTA license is required upon appointment.
-AND-Certification: All candidates must possess and maintain Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Desired QualificationsExperience with Microsoft Office is highly desirable.

Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
