This position will be located with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Missouri State Parks, and will be located at Meramec State Park, 115 Meramec Park Drive, Sullivan, Missouri 63080. The shifts for this position are typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 with a 30-minute lunch break. Shifts may vary with time of year and to meet the needs of the facility. Days off are Saturday and Sunday. This position will be required to work one or more weekends a month from April to October. Must also work varying shifts depending on holidays, emergencies, and special events.

• Semi-skilled work in facility maintenance, grounds maintenance, construction and repair of buildings and trail system, and routine cleaning of structures with occasionally assistance in the operation of the water/wastewater systems.
• Assist with assigning tasks to and reviewing work of seasonal maintenance staff.
• Direct and perform facility maintenance and upkeep according to facility plans, including vehicle and equipment maintenance, routine preventive maintenance, grounds keeping, buildings and structures maintenance, infrastructure, and tree trimming. Must be able to perform some minor vehicle and equipment repairs on site.
• Purchase operating supplies, parts, and project materials as necessary. Become familiar with and follow all procurement rules and procedures.
• Communicate openly and effectively with the public, external stakeholders, supervisors, and subordinates.
• Assist with stewardship of resources, both natural and cultural. Participate in controlled burns, invasive plant removal and other resource management related projects and assist with maintaining the beauty of various gardens on site to include researching, planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting. Participate in off-site controlled burns at other parks in the unit, and/or to help meet Region or Statewide management goals.
• Maintain a working knowledge of park rules, regulations, procedures, and policies. Attend mandatory and other trainings including overnight stays to learn new or enhance existing skills.

To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:

• Building and Construction : Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.
• Learning : Uses efficient learning techniques to acquire and apply new knowledge and skills; uses training, feedback, or other opportunities for self-learning and development.
• Mechanical : Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance.
• Plumbing and Pipefitting: Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to install, maintain, or repair pipelines, pipe systems, and fixtures, including water, air, steam, gas, chemicals, or sewage.
• Problem Solving : Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

• One to three years of experience in a variety of trade areas including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)

Preferred Qualifications and Experience/Special Job Requirements

• Possess and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.
• Perform strenuous physical outdoor work, able to walk on uneven terrain for extended periods of time, able to perform duties in rugged terrain, lift and load 50 to 75 pound objects repeatedly, walk and work on roofs, operate equipment for extended timeframes such as mowers, tractors, trimmers and backpack blowers and climb ladders.
• Must be able to work some weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• This position may be requested to obtain and maintain water/wastewater certifications, and/or other required licenses/certifications. If required and you do not currently possess this license/certification, you will be given 12 months to obtain necessary license/certification.
• Fire Certification, S-190 or MDC Level 1, must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.

Salary:

$38,771.32-$39,036.00 per Year
