Position Summary:
Responsible managing information systems supporting Decision Support, Financial Planning and Budgeting including managing cost accounting and designing new cost accounting strategies, patient data analysis and enhancements, and financial data analysis. Maintains a broad understanding of UMC operations and detailed knowledge of financial models and data and performs management duties with a team dedicated to the support and maintenance of decision support systems.

Job Requirement

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, IT, business administration, health care administration or a closely related field and three (3) years of relevant experience performing administrative, operational, financial, statistical or similar analyses and studies in healthcare.

Professional level experience is defined as being employed in an FLSA exempt/salaried status position.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
None.

Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

Applicants MUST have the following:

1. Minimum of three (3) years of recent documented experience with Strata and/or Axiom in a hospital setting
2. Must demonstrate advanced proficiency in Excel (Advanced Excel skills include the ability to produce graphs and tables, use spreadsheets efficiently, perform calculations and automation to process large volumes of data, create and manipulate pivot tables, and properly apply formulas)
3. Experience managing a team of professional-level staff
4. Experience presenting and/or preparing presentations for consumption by key management and top level administrators and/or Boards

Preferred applicants will have the following:

1. Proficiency writing complex SQL queries/extracts
2. Experience with EPIC
3. Proficiency creating and troubleshooting Excel VBA code


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Knowledge of:
Supervisory theories and principles; managing complex projects; advanced finance concepts; financial analysis, forecasting, strategic planning, and interpretation of financial data; department and hospital safety practice and procedures; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

Skill in:
Translating clinical user needs into financial reporting structures and conversely explain financial results to non-financial/technical staff; forecasting, financial reporting and procedures; coordinating, scheduling, reviewing, gathering, interpreting and presenting information accurately to senior leadership; managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines and working with minimal supervision; maintaining confidentiality; Microsoft Excel including development and use of financial models, pivot tables, graphs, macros, and complex formulas; using computers and related software applications; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for an extended period of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or an eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
