Description
Job Summary Creates and maintains spatial data in support of the City of Bryan enterprise Geographic Information System ( GIS ) for the Water Services Department. Fulfills map and data requests as well as performs analysis of spatial data and produces maps to express the results of analytical processes. Provides technical support to GIS users throughout all City of Bryan departments.
Essential Job Functions - Maintains existing GIS with latest updates and assists in the procurement and distribution of spatial data.
- Utilizes ArcGIS to create maps and perform analysis to assist city staff on an as needed basis.
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings to add new infrastructure into the GIS .
- Meets with users to define data needs, project requirements, and required output.
- Provides technical support and training to other GIS users throughout the City of Bryan.
- Assists in the transfer of geospatial technology to other departments throughout the City.
- Coordinates the collection and entry of GPS data collected by other departments within the City and incorporates that data into the GIS .
- Assists in maintaining the City of Bryan’s web applications.
- Assists in maintaining the City of Bryan’s enterprise geodatabase.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Responds regularly and promptly to work.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework in GIS , Spatial Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field of study plus at least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the use of GIS and GPS technology; OR an Associate’s degree with relevant coursework as previously listed plus at least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the use of GIS and GPS technology.
Equivalent combinations of education, experience, certification, and training may be considered.
Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements Texas Class C driver’s license with a good driving record as measured by the City’s evaluation system.
Salary:
$55,000-$65,000/year (depending on qualifications)
