This position will be located at the St. Louis Regional Office: 7545 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63125.
- Conduct hazardous waste focused compliance inspections (FCIs)
- Conduct scrap tire inspections
- Investigate concerns involving odor, open burning, used oil management, and dumping of solid waste
To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:
- Analytic Thinking/Problem Solving: Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
- Auditing : Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and procedures for conducting financial and compliance, economy and efficiency, and program audits.
- Flexibility: Is open to change and new information; adapts behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles; effectively deals with uncertainty.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Physical Science, Geology, Engineering, Agronomy, Forestry, Soil Science, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Agriculture, Animal Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or a closely related field from an accredited college, and 0 - 4 or more years of relevant experience.

Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant. Professional Experience to be Gained: - Knowledge of public drinking water systems and current water treatment options
- Participation in a variety of formal and informal water training programs offered by the department
- Opportunity to meet with regulatory agency personnel and the operators of water facilities around the St. Louis region
- If an intern is in an engineering program, the intern will also receive engineering experience hours while working with a Professional Engineer
Salary:
$17.77 per Hour
