Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Academic Programs, the Extended Education Specialist II (EES II) is responsible for leading the planning and development of content and format of educational offerings in an assigned program area to provide learning opportunities for professional updating, mid-career training, community service, faculty-led study abroad, post-traditional students and life-long learning. The EES II maintains relationships with academic departments to ensure consistent communication and the smooth delivery of currently running and newly developing programs. The EES II is responsible for working with both university departments and internal administrative units. The EES II implements programs with multiple delivery formats including face-to-face instruction, online learning or hybrid education. This includes work to plan courses, maintain programmatic budgets to ensure full cost recovery, researching feasibility and the launching of new programs.

FLSA: Exempt (not eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $6,019 per month - $6,660 per month, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,019 per month - $8,585 per month

Work Hours: Work hours are established within CCE's operating hours of Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Department Information

The College of Continuing Education (CCE) extends the mission of the university by increasing access for non-traditional learners. With a primary expertise on serving adult learners, CCE provides programs and services to individuals and employers year-round, unbound by traditional semester schedules and formats. CCE serves a hybrid student body that extends beyond California, serving over 80,000 learners annually through in-person, hybrid and fully online workshops, courses, conferences, certificate and degree programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of the procedures and practices in educational program and curriculum planning in education, and the processes required to plan and construct academic programs and course outlines.

Ability to determine needs for new or revised programs; plan hours and develop course outlines with instructors; locate instructors and to assist them in understanding and completing contract arrangements; develop budgets and analyze costs; develop and implement promotional strategies; represent the CSU system to the community and develop working relationships; and manage logistics of providing classes and to analyze cost information and statistics.

Experience:

Equivalent to three years of experience in planning classes and curriculum for higher or extended education programs and including developing resources, budgets, marketing plans and liaison with the community.

Education:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with courses in adult education and curriculum planning.

Ability to develop budgets and analyze costs Ability to communicate persuasively both verbally and in writing Analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to investigate and analyze problems with a broad administrative impact and implications; ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively Ability to independently initiate, plan, organize, prioritize, multitask, and coordinate work in a fast-paced organization with competing priorities and distractions.

Preferred Qualifications:

18. Master’s degree in education, business, humanities, social sciences or related field

19. Knowledge of the resources of the campus and surrounding region served by Sacramento State
