Position: Full-Time, Staff Counselor (3 Positions)
Effective Date: On or about January 6, 2025 (1-Year Appointment, Renewable)
Salary Range: The Student Services Professional Academic-Related, I (12-Month) classification salary is $85,524 to $153,252 per year (paid as 12 monthly payments). The anticipated hiring range is $85,524 to $119,400 per year. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Division of Student Affairs
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

Under the supervision of the Director, the Counselor’s primary responsibilities include providing counseling services to CSULB students on campus. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality counseling services with a holistic, collaborative, and integrated approach to CSULB students out of Student Health Services. In addition, this role adheres to the CSU Executive Order 1053 that defines the role of a counselor and their duties.

Required Qualifications:

IMPORTANT: Licensing Requirements for Mental Health Clinicians:

All mental health clinicians who are currently licensed must maintain their licensure status. Those joining the team post-July 1, 2011, in the Student Services Professional -Academic Related classification must be licensed in California at the time of employment or obtain licensure within 24 months of starting. Individuals licensed in another state must secure California licensure within one year. During the licensure transition period, unlicensed individuals or those awaiting California licensure may provide care during the interim period of obtaining a license per state licensing requirements. These protocols include routine checks of licensure status and disciplinary actions through state license boards and, where applicable, the National Practitioner Data Bank/Health Care Integrity and Protection Data Bank.
