Systems Engineer III - ITS (Prescott)
Description
RoleThe ITS department is currently seeking to hire a Systems Engineer III specializing in Network Systems. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of enterprise networking and internet-related technologies. Key responsibilities include designing, configuring, and maintaining networks utilizing Palo Alto and Cisco security devices to ensure optimal performance and network integrity. Additionally, the candidate will monitor network security systems and respond to incidents, implement and enforce firewall policies, and manage access controls and configurations. A solid grasp of basic Layer 1, 2, and 3 principles, as well as the operation of routers and switching devices (specifically Cisco), is essential. The role also requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to support secure network design.

Major Duties, Responsibilities- Oversees the ensuring of network/system availability to include all centralized and internet-based resources; communicates status of requested services to county-wide departmental liaisons. Services include (but not limited to): responds to service calls, provides technical expertise, and ensures timely resolution of customer reported problems.
- Oversees small to medium individual and multi-department projects within the ITS project portfolio while observing established ITS project management procedures. Using appropriate technology, creates project deliverables as specified for the project; examples include a requirements document, statement of work, test plans and diagrams.
- Collaborates with county-wide IT stakeholders to define requirements and translate such business needs into technical solutions; provides recommendations for software and/or systems.
- Designs, develops, tests, and maintains custom systems; prepares test plans for assigned systems and develops test data and tests procedures for those systems.
- Prepares and maintains customer and internal documentation.
- Assists in providing technical assistance and training to junior staff.
- Provides level III technical expertise.
- Performs varied systems analysis, configuration, and implementation work.
- Assists in developing departmental standards and procedures; complies with all County and departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains expertise in current technologies.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field.
Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of experience in information technology or related field. An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.
Additional Requirements:Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
