Description
Job Summary Plans, coordinates, and participates in the activities of power plant operations and maintenance for Bryan Texas Utilities ( BTU ) at Roland C. Dansby Power Plant and Atkins Power Plant.
Roland C. Dansby Power Plant is the primary resource for Bryan Texas Utilities ( BTU ). The power plant is a three-unit power plant consisting of a 110MW gas-fired steam turbine and two 48MW simple-cycle gas turbines with a total capacity of 206MW. The Atkins Power Plant is a single unit resource consisting of a simple cycle gas turbine with a capacity of 18MW. The power plants acts as a physical hedge for BTU’s power supply and is used as a peaking to intermediate resource.
Essential Job Functions - Provides support and expertise for power generation activities.
- Works closely with Plant Manager, Operations Manager and Maintenance Manager to maximize safety and reliability for all generation units.
- Coordinates, manages and leads special projects as require for plant safety, operation and reliability.
- Participates in budget development and planning.
- Participates in the selection of outside contractors and monitors contractor activities.
- Prepares reports and maintains records of maintenance activities.
- Prepares reports and maintains records for regulatory agencies.
- Performs special studies/projects as required by production or management.
- Performs all other related duties as designated by management.
- Participates in regulatory and compliance activities.
- Participates in on-call rotation.
- Responds regularly and promptly to work during regular working hours and after hours as necessary
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a similar field of study plus at least six (6) years directly related experience OR a Master’s degree plus at least four (4) years directly related experience.
Equivalent combinations of education, experience, certification and training may be considered.
Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements Texas Class C driver’s license with a good driving record as measured by the City’s evaluation system.
