Description

Join our team as a Utilities Maintenance Technician , where you'll play a critical role in maintaining and improving the water distribution and wastewater collection systems. This is your chance to work on the front lines, ensuring your community has access to safe, reliable water and wastewater services.
What You’ll Do:
- Keep things flowing: Read and record water usage data, troubleshoot and repair water meters, and ensure accurate installations for new accounts.
- Safeguard public health: Test, troubleshoot, and repair backflow prevention devices to maintain system integrity.
- Fix and improve: Locate and repair leaks in water and wastewater systems, install new water and sewer mains, and make sewer and water main line repairs.
- Tackle tough jobs: Repair and maintain lift stations, fire hydrants, manholes, and underground utilities while performing necessary excavations and restorations.
- Use advanced tools: Operate remote-controlled cameras to locate line blockages, specialized equipment to clean sewer lines, and a variety of heavy equipment like dump trucks, backhoes, and forklifts.
- Stay safe: Install work safety zones and direct traffic at worksites to ensure the safety of the team and the public.
- Be a team player: Participate in an on-call rotation with availability for emergency call-outs to respond when your community needs you most.
What We’re Looking For:
- Education & Experience: Ability to read, write, and perform basic math typically associated with high school completion. Experience equivalent to 1-2 years in a similar role or through an apprenticeship/internship.
- Licensing Requirements:
- A valid Texas driver’s license appropriate for equipment operated (or ability to obtain).
- Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Class C or above license in water and wastewater (or ability to obtain).
- Skills & Attributes:
- Comfort operating a variety of tools, heavy equipment, and specialized machinery.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Willingness to work in an on-call rotation for emergency needs.
