University Deputy Director of Public Safety
In collaboration with the University Executive Director of Public Safety, the UDD will proactively advance the University’s strategic public safety goals centered on enhancing community trust and accountability; utilizing the most current policies and best practices; delivering resources effectively and efficiently; and investing in the development of talent.
Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure public safety and security, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Direct the coordination of emergency response teams in collaboration with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services ensuring effective crisis response
- Collaborate with the University Executive Director to advance CUNY’s public safety goals, focusing on enhancing community trust, accountability, and operational efficiency
- Assist in managing over 1,000 sworn and non-sworn personnel, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous professional development within the department
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential threats.
- Lead emergency management planning, readiness, and training operations across the University.
