Description
Benefit Program Specialist - Special Programs Salary Range: $40,788 - $42,840
Why you will love this position:The work of the Special Programs Unit is to handle the establishment of the more complex claims, i.e. combined wage claims, federal claims, shared work claims, and military claims. The Special Programs Unit also is responsible for alien verification, RTAA/TRA, SSA verification, and name mismatch issues. The primary role of the position will be to assist in the processing of all incoming work items and correspondence to the Special Programs Unit. The position will also require occasional contact with claimants and the applicant to be flexible and accept all other duties as assigned.
What you will do: - Secures and evaluates information required to process state and federal unemployment insurance claims, shared work claims, and claims for training, subsistence, and transportation allowances under various employability programs.
- Corresponds and communicates with claimants, employers, Central Office, and state and federal agencies to correct errors, resolve problems, and facilitate the processing of claims.
- Receives and answers telephone and written inquiries regarding unemployment insurance.
- Attends various training sessions and meetings to remain aware of program procedures and law changes.
- Communicates with financial institutions to resolve complex cases involving lost/stolen/forged checks, direct deposits, or debit card payments on unemployment claims.
- Receives moderate supervision; however, the employee is expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative within the framework of established state and federal laws and agency policies and procedures.
- Resolves complex claims processing problems in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Studies new and revised agency procedures, rules, laws, regulations, and other program changes contained in operating manuals to maintain currency of knowledge and information.
All you need for success: Qualifications - 4 years of relevant experience OR a Bachelor's Degree
