Job Summary Performs specialized and technical work in the examination, identification, comparison, evaluation, and verification of latent prints and inked prints. Provides advice on fingerprint matters to police personnel and the State Attorney Office. Work includes the responsibility for the maintenance and identification of criminal evidentiary records and latent print evidence. An employee assigned to this class is provided technical supervision from the Senior Latent Print Examiner(s), who reviews work for completeness, technical quality, and adherence to departmental standards. Work is performed under the supervision of the Crime Center and Forensics Supervisor and Manager. Performance is reviewed through discussion, results obtained, and reports submitted.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree and two (2) years experience in latent print analysis, comparison, evaluation, and verification with a recognized law enforcement agency, which must have included courtroom testimony. Must have at least eighty (80) hours of technical training endorsed by the International Association for Identification; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Certification as a Latent Print Examiner from the International Association for Identification is preferred. Must pass police background investigation, which includes polygraph examination.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
Salary:
USD 23.88 - 30.45 per hour
