Why you’ll love this position:Fulton State Hospital will be opening an innovative new program designed specifically for clients diagnosed with both developmental disabilities and mental illness within the minimum-security Hearnes Forensic Center. This program will offer acute psychiatric and behavioral stabilization in an inpatient mental health setting. Given the short length of stay expected for clients in the program, the work environment will be immersive and fast-paced.
Fulton State Hospital is a trauma informed community of skilled people partnering with individuals challenged by mental illness to inspire healing and recovery, and has become known for using evidence based treatment and innovative practices. This is a half-time position. Scheduling is flexible to fit the program and applicant’s needs.
What you’ll do:Fulton State Hospital is looking for an Occupational Therapist with experience working with individuals dually diagnosed with developmental disabilities and mental illness. The OT will function as an active member of an interdisciplinary treatment team. Primary duties include completing planning and conducting therapeutic groups within the Hearnes Acute Rehabilitation Program to meet the needs of the clients. Completion of Occupational Therapy assessments and consultations for clients with sensory integration, complex medical needs and disabilities. Case Management and completing required program and department documentation required.
What you’ll need for success in this position: Minimum Qualifications - Must hold a license to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of Missouri
Preferred Qualifications - Training and/or experience working with individuals dually diagnosed with developmental disabilities and serious mental illnesses
