SummaryProvides high level senior planning and project management services to develop and implement comprehensive plans affecting land use, historic landmark designations, utilization of land and physical facilities, zoning and transportation issues by performing the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepares reports for Board and Commissions, and responsible for timely agenda postings.
- Facilitating responding to inquiries on requests for zoning changes, plan amendments, certificate of appropriateness within the historic district.
- Compiles and analyzes data on economic, social, and physical factors affecting land use, and prepares graphics and narrative reports to present to Boards and Commissions.
- Develops comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, and land-use studies to align with city goals.
- Manages planning projects, reviewing site plans and plats, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Coordinates public meetings, engaging with stakeholders, and integrating community input into planning initiatives.
- Conducts data analysis for urban development, environmental impact, and growth trends; preparing reports and presentations for Boards and Commissions.
- Leads planners and coordinates with other departments on interdisciplinary projects.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises employees in the Planning Division. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or ExperienceBachelors in Urban and Regional Planning, Master’s preferred; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCNU, AICP or AIA preferred. A valid Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for this position. Driving is a requirement of this position.
