What You'll Be Doing

The Community Development Coordinator, under supervision of the Affordable Housing Development and Lending Manager, supports the Equitable Housing and Community Development team to implement innovative development and preservation programs providing affordable housing across Wake County. This role provides key administrative and compliance support to the division’s multifamily development, preservation and homeownership programs.

The ideal candidate will be a highly-organized, self-motivated project manager who is passionate about providing top quality customer service through effective program administration. They should have a solid baseline understanding of affordable housing and community development and in particular they should be familiar with loan documentation and the loan closing process. The ideal Community Development Coordinator is a solid collaborator who is comfortable working on a small team where colleagues support each other across programmatic boundaries as needed.

Wake County Department of Housing’s goal is to ensure that quality affordable housing is available for all Wake County residents. As the population and economy continue to grow in Wake County, the need for affordable housing development and preservation increases. Not only do more units of affordable housing need to be built, housing services must be provided to support families and individuals to access or maintain safe, decent, affordable housing. Affordable housing is also critical to preserving Wake County’s economic competitiveness by offering housing for workers at all income levels, supporting housing stability and economic opportunity for its residents and furthering Wake County’s commitment to healthy and inclusive growth. The Department’s programs include Community Revitalization, Development Financing, Rental Assistance, Homeless Services, Community Outreach, Emergency Shelter, Veterans Services and Permanent Supportive Housing.

Hiring Range: 54,769.00 - 73,939.00

Market Range: 54,769.00 - 93,110.00

Emergency Service Worker Statement
