A Senior Professional Engineer - Floodplain Management position is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation & Public Works Stormwater Management Division, Floodplain Management Section. This position assists with reviews of hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for both public and private developments in the City of Fort Worth and surrounding extra-territorial jurisdiction to ensure that the proposed projects conform to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and City of Fort Worth standards. We are seeking someone who understands not only the technical side of hydrology and hydraulics but also has the ability to interpret and apply these concepts to proposed projects to ensure that new developments do not increase the risk of flooding to adjacent properties or infrastructure.

In addition to development project reviews, this position will manage flood and watershed studies which will involve a combination of planning, project management, technical review, contract development and outreach. The Floodplain Management Section also manages two city wide FEMA programs - the Community Rating System (CRS), and the Cooperating Technical Partners (CTP). The CRS program provides a nationally-recognized platform to quantify and reward the higher standards and management practices that cities use to reduce flood risks.
