POSITION SUMMARYThe Technology Strategist - Cloud Release Supervisor/Lead is responsible for overseeing the release management process for cloud-based applications and services. This role involves ensuring that new software versions are developed, tested, and deployed efficiently while maintaining the integrity of the production environment. This position will be responsible for planning, testing, tracking, release, deployment, communication, and risk management associated with our cloud solutions. He/She will coordinate the release schedule and resources required depending upon the third-party applications, defect backlogs, planned releases, and infrastructure updates. This individual will be responsible for identifying new features, functionalities, and risks that can impact or delay operations. The goal is for this resource to be dedicated to plan, coordinate, and manage activities associated with our service providers and/or allocation of our application team to support the release. This is advanced professional, technical, and administrative work of more than average difficulty in research, design, evaluation, administration, and implementation of software solutions; recommends software for meeting business needs; leads software upgrade initiatives; and collaborates with staff external to the immediate Application Services Team as well as vendors. This position will have a focus in maintaining and supporting business applications. PLEASE NOTE: This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by Federation of Public Employees and therefore is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Federation of Public Employees. This job classification is in Management Category III for benefits purposes, which includes Six (6) additional Management Vacation days per calendar year and a monthly vehicle allowance of $250.00. - Coordinates with internal and external vendors and City customer department personnel to ensure patch solutions are tested, released, and adopted by the business.
- Develops deployment schedules and task identification and resource assignment for technology projects and initiatives.
- Collaboration: Works closely with vendor, development, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth release processes.
- Assist the division manager with verifying that projects produce the required deliverables of quality, within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve the potential benefits defined in the business case.
- Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues that arise during the release process.
- Manage the deployment of cloud (patch) updates, including monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Work closely with development, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth release processes.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate risks associated with software releases.
- Performs analysis and recommends purchases of new technology hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Identifies application/module problems, reports, and documents the solution and recommendations.
- Support and assist cloud technology projects and other initiatives as assigned.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration and ensure clear understanding of release plans.
- Scheduling and facilitating reviews to ensure that the new features, functionalities, and production environment is ready for new releases.
- Leading the enterprise release cadence to make strategic decisions about releases, optimizations, and adoption of new technologies.
- Continually work on improving the release process for greater reliability and efficiency.
- Plans the release life cycle, coordinating releases across teams, and building a release calendar.
- Coordinates response to technology incidents and communicates response progress to customers and other information technology team members.
- Performs analysis and recommends purchases of new technology software, hardware, and peripherals.
- Makes recommendations for improvements in information systems methodologies and procedures.
- Communicates with stakeholders, including upper management and software teams, about release schedules, progress, and risks.
- Performs related work as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENTBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field. Three (3) or more years of experience planning and managing or administering technology-related projects or systems. Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience or education.Possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Florida driver’s license within 30 days of hire. PREFERENCES: - Experience leading a technical team.
- Proficiency in Infor's cloud platforms and release management tools
- Experience in IT or software development, with specific focus on release management, cloud environments, or project management.
