THE POSITION

**Although there is a salary range for this position, the candidate hired into this position will be hired at the bottom of the salary range.**

This recruitment is limited to the first 100 completed employment applications. Once that number of applications is reached, this recruitment will close without notice. This recruitment will be used to establish an open competitive and promotional eligibility list that may be used to fill this vacancy and vacancies occurring in this classification for a minimum period of six (6) months. Performs a wide variety of skilled, journey-level duties in the maintenance of transit amenities and bus stop signage and provides oversight of contracted services related to the maintenance of transit amenities and bus stop signage.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Working Conditions: May work shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Work Experience: Equivalent to high school graduation and two (2) years of full-time professional journey-level experience in one or more of the trades, which must have included experience in oversight of contracted services.

Licensing and Certification:Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License at the time of application.

Background Investigation:
Employment with the Regional Transportation Commission in this position contingent upon the results of a comprehensive background investigation, including qualifying education/experience verification, social security trace, criminal history records review, and driving history records check.

Medical Examination / Drug Screening:
Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician, including a pre-employment drug screening.

• Ability to inspect transit amenities shelters and equipment for defects

• Proficiency in alternating current and direct current electrical work

• Proficiency in sheet metal repair and parts fabrication

• Ability to perform preventative maintenance on equipment (forklift, hand tools, power tools, etc.)

• Demonstrated experience in use work order systems, Word and Excel spreadsheets

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical ability to perform maintenance, construction and related work, including operating hand and power equipment, and climbing, maneuvering, and working on up to 8-foot ladders; stamina to stand and walk for extended periods of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Accommodations may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodations.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Inspects and performs maintenance on RTC-owned transit amenities, including utilities, batteries, lighting, solar panels and physical structures. Inspects the work of contractors to ensure proper and timely completion, directing the contractor to address any substandard work. Ensure preventative maintenance work is done on schedule and per specifications. Provides feedback on the performance of contractors as appropriate. Drafts and reviews scope of work documents in support of procurement of commodities and service contracts. Makes repairs on RTC-owned transit facilities and amenities as required. Purchases needed supplies, materials and tools from vendors/suppliers and maintains adequate inventories. Recommends improvements and/or enhancements to transit amenities fixtures and repair and maintenance methods. Serves as resource for technical assistance in regard to transit amenities issues. Researches and keeps current on new products, methods, and techniques. Review, evaluate and respond to complaints received about maintenance and cleanliness at RTC-owned transit amenities and Bus Rapid Transit stations, records finding in bus stop database, directs to franchisee and/or appropriate contractor for remediation. Uses a computer to maintain bus stop database and other documentation and recordkeeping related to amenities and bus stop program and maintenance of RTC-owned transit amenities and related equipment and signage. Responds to inquiries from contractors and engineers, as assigned, to coordinate temporary relocation or removal of bus stops to facilitate construction projects. May operate a wide variety of power and hand tools in performing maintenance and repair services. Drives official vehicle to job sites in a safe and efficient manner. Other duties as assigned.

GROUP INSURANCE - Health and dental insurance is available at a minimal expense to eligible employees, spouses and dependents. The RTC pays the monthly life insurance premium for eligible employees.

SERVICE CONNECTED DISABILITY INSURANCE - Eligible employees are covered by a Workman's Compensation Program in accordance with the provisions of the Nevada Industrial Insurance Act (NRS Chapter 616) and the Nevada Occupational Diseases Act (NRS 617).

LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE - The RTC pays a monthly premium toward a long-term disability plan for eligible employees.

VACATION - Vacation leave accrual is based on length of RTC employment. Initial accrual is at the rate of 3.08 vacation hours for each biweekly pay period.

SICK LEAVE - Eligible employees accrue 3.7 hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period. Employees completing 10 years of service accrue an additional .92 hours of sick leave per biweekly pay period.

MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES - Court leave, military leave, parental leave, leave without pay, blood donor leave, education leave, and RTC promotional/transfer application examination leave are available (upon approval) for eligible permanent employees.

RETIREMENT - Full-time employees become a member of the Nevada State Public Employees Retirement System under an employer paid plan.

LONGEVITY PAY - Effective July 1, 2021, permanent employees who have completed 5 full years of creditable service with the RTC are entitled to a one time longevity payment in addition to their base salary. Longevity is paid annually, in a one time lump sum amount, at the rate of .57 of 1% at 5 years.

CREDIT UNION - RTC employees and their families are eligible to join the Clark County Credit Union.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT - Eligible employees may be awarded tuition reimbursement upon successful completion of pre-approved, job related courses.

FMLA - Employees who have worked for the RTC for at least one year, and have worked at least 1,250 hours over the preceding 12 months are eligible for the provisions of the Family Medical Leave Act.
