Job Summary

The Academic Advisor - Second Year Experience Coordinator under the general supervision of the Associate Director of UCUA and the Executive Director of University Academic Advisement, serves as the coordinator of retention efforts for undeclared second-year students. The incumbent will provide critical support for programs and initiatives designed to strengthen the academic success and retention of undeclared second-year students.

Key Responsibilities

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Demonstrates proficiency in computer skills (e.g.Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.). Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including professional demeanor and ability to be a team player. Exhibit strong oral and written communication skills. Maintain excellent organizational skills including ability to prioritize responsibilities, multi- task and meet deadlines. Exhibit strong critical and creative thinking skills, sound decision making and the ability to remain objective. Be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, is desired. Demonstrated academic advising experience in a college/vocational setting, preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and maintain web - based systems and databases. Demonstrated ability to develop web-enhanced advising programs, preferred. Experience with data analysis, and project management preferred. Experience training faculty and staff in a university or college setting preferred.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $5,276- $5,400 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,276- $7,517 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
