Construction Intern-Construction and Materials Division
Description
This position will be filled at a salary no higher than the posted maximum salary.Job Location: Central Office, 1617 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MO
Why you’ll love this position: The construction intern inspects routine construction items for conformance to plans, specifications, special provisions, and terms of the contract. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.
- Coordinates and performs construction inspections verifying that contractors' activities are in compliance with contracts, specifications, and engineering principles.
- Performs duties of inspector in charge of routine construction items, such as asphaltic or portland cement concrete plants, asphaltic or concrete paving, including grading and base, small bridges, concrete box and pipe culverts; inspects general or special items, such as utility adjustments, signing, traffic signals and lighting.
- Performs measurements, computations, or other work in preparing final plans, change orders, contractor payment estimates, and engineering costs.
- Maintains required construction documentation, records and files; prepares progress and other reports, keeps supervisor fully informed as to activities or unusual conditions on the job.
- Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.
- Must be enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program; for engineering candidates, program must be ABET-accredited.
- Must possess, and maintain, an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0.
- Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.
Special working conditions and job characteristics: - This is a wage, non-benefits eligible position, working no more than 1,039 hours per year.
- The typical working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Salary:
$21.05-$24.19 per Hour
