Accounting Specialist II: $23.05 - $28.02 Hourly

Representative Duties THE POSITION: Under supervision, coordinates and performs duties related to preparing, processing, maintaining, and checking financial, statistical, or fiscal records for citywide finance programs; and performs related work as required.

ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST I: - Graduation from high school or GED program; AND
- One (1) year experience in performing journey-level clerical accounting work, financial, statistical, fiscal or related record keeping work. OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the capabilities to perform the described duties.
ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST II: - Requires an additional two (2) years of the above experience.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE: - Customer service experience
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- 10-Key Certificate: If you are proficient in 10-key data entry, please submit a copy of a current 10-key certificate dated within the last 2 years of the filing deadline certifying a minimum of 8,000 keystrokes per hour (kph). Note: Online 10-key certificates are acceptable.
Examination (Weighted: 100%) EXAMINATION: ORAL APPRAISAL INTERVIEW (Weighted 100%): Week of January 20, 2025 (Tentative) An appraisal will be made of the applicant's experience, education, training, certification, knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal qualifications for the position. A minimum passing score of 70% is required. NOTE: Admission to the Examination may be limited to those applicants who demonstrate the best combination of qualifications. Applicants possessing the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed admittance to the Examination. VACATION: Accrual rate is determined by bargaining unit.
1-4 years of service: 10 days per year.
5-13 years of service: 15 days per year.
14+ years of service: 20 days per year.
VACATION - FIRE SAFETY SHIFT PERSONNEL ONLY:
1-4 years of service: 4.68 (24-hr. duty shifts)
5-15 years of service: 7.02 (24-hr. duty shifts)
16+ years of service: 9.36 (24-hr. duty shifts)
HOLIDAYS: 13 paid holidays per year.
SICK LEAVE: Earned at the rate of one working day per month of service to a maximum of 120 days; portions therafter may be convertible.
ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE: 10 days per year for General Supervisory and Management employees.

RETIREMENT: Benefits are provided by the City's participation in the Public Employee's Retirement System (PERS). 2% @ 62 for new hire Miscellaneous and 2.7% @ 57 for Safety (Fire & Police). Visit the City's Retirement websitefor additional information.
Salary:
$3,614.52 - $4,393.31 Monthly
