Position Description
Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and the Office of Research and Innovation is seeking a highly motivated Director of Special Projects to oversee and execute strategic initiatives across multiple departments and functions. This role requires expertise in mixed methods research, needs assessment, and program management evaluation, as well as a proven ability to collaborate with high-level administrators and faculty. The Director of Research Special Projects will report to the Senior Vice President for Research and lead a complex NIH-funded project to assess and improve institutional research capacity, ensure alignment with institutional goals, and timely completion and impactful results.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
