Trades Supervisor (Mason and Plasterer) - Belmont Lake
Description
Duties Description Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Perform Journeyman level mason and plasterer duties.
• Plan, lay out, and complete masonry and plastering work - including preparing job estimates and ordering supplies.
• Working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the mason trade.
• Perform restoration work on historic buildings and structures to maintain the original fabric of the building.
• Lay building materials such as stone, brick, concrete, and cinder blocks to repair walls, partitions, firebrick linings in furnaces and chimneys.
• Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, and sidewalks.
• Apply coats of plaster to walls and ceilings, including the preparation of surface, mixing of plaster, application of plaster and erection of scaffolding if needed.
• Will be required to train and supervise others.
• Operate light trucks, passenger vehicles, tractors, landscape equipment and other small equipment.
Minimum Qualifications One year of experience* as a skilled journey level mason subsequent to the completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
*If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience.
Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:
• May work weekends and various shifts, holidays and special events. Specific schedule will be discussed at the time of interview.
• Selected candidate must possess a New York State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License by date of appointment and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.
• Possession of a Class A or B CDL is preferred.
• Ability to prepare job estimates, maintain inventory and stock control, and order shop supplies.
• Must be able to perform medium to heavy physical labor, and able to work from heights.
• Follow appropriate safety standards.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

The hiring rate listed combines the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 14 ($54,860) with the Downstate Adjustment ($3,400). Similarly, the job rate posted is a combination of the statutory job rate ($66,634) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,400).
