Description
Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.
Provide direct staff support to the Commissioner, with the primary goal of implementing the Commissioner’s vision and successfully achieving the department’s mission.
Direct and contribute to the efficient operation of the Office of the Commissioner and the department.
Supervise department staff in the development and distribution of planning documents, position papers, special correspondence, and special and occasional reports.
Research and complete special projects as directed by the Commissioner.
Provide direct support to the Deputy Commissioner’s on special projects.
Serve as the liaison between the Commissioner of Education’s Office and Governor’s Office, Secretary of State’s Office, and other designated education-related committees and commissions.
Coordinate the department’s strategic plan and monitor progress of action steps.
Coordinate and develop the department’s success-ready metrics and dashboard.
Serve as the point of contact between the agency and the U.S. Department of Education’s technical assistance center, Central Comprehensive Center (C3), operated out of the University of Oklahoma.
Serve as interim office-level administrator to execute request for proposals, contracts, staff expense reimbursement, leave documentation, etc.
Serve as liaison between the Commissioner and education-related councils, committees, and other designated organizations.
Serve on internal human resources committees pertaining to talent/professional development, improvement/evaluation systems, and diversity in the workforce.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Education, or related area, from an accredited college or university.
OR
Six or more years of progressive professional experience in Education, administration, human services, or closely related field.
