- Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
Licenses or Certifications: - Valid Texas Driver License.
- Licensing for specific disciplines may be required.
- Appropriate certifications as specified for the assignment.

The Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator position is an
onsite position that will work independently and focus on consulting with the Human Resources Manager and department management to plan, develop, organize, evaluate, manage and build, monitor and conduct the department’s safety awareness training activities to prevent mishaps and injuries. It will also analyze department safety data to develop long and short term strategies and study injury trends, will provide leadership and direction for safety assessments, communicate safety, security and environmental concerns to management, ensure investigation and documentation of all accidents, incidents and injuries within the department and may assist the HR Manager in preparing the Safety Division budget. The role will be key in promoting a proactive safety culture by helping to develop and implement risk management protocols, teaching and validating behavioral safety, hazard recognition, and operational safety.
A competency assessment (s) may be required to verify your skill set.

$32.23 - $40.29
Hours
Monday through Friday.
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Note that this is an onsite position. Additional hours and/or working outside of normal business hours may be required as determined by operational needs.

Preferred Experience: - Experience administering a safety program in a diverse fleet environment in an occupational health and safety capacity.
- Experience with a wide variety of safety programs (i.e.. Hazard Communication, PIT /Lift Programs, JHA , Confined Space, injury/vehicle accident prevention and investigations, ergonomics, PPE evaluation, respiratory training, and hearing conservation programs);
- Experience recommending and garnering support at all levels for process improvements and efficiencies to support the reduction in safety incidents and previous experience investigating injuries and vehicle accidents;
- Experience writing and presenting safety related training to a wide variety of individuals an evaluating workplace hazards and mitigation techniques;
- Experience communicating and/or training health and safety information to various audiences;
- Experience performing a safety gap analysis by comparing existing regulations with existing company programs;
- Experience in conducting workplace incident/accident investigations;
- Experience in gathering data from various sources to identify and analyze trends to make data driven decisions;
- Professional certification(s) related to Occupational Health and Safety or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment;
- Working knowledge of telematics.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.Develops and implements comprehensive safety and training programs to ensure adherence to safety practices and procedures. Establishes standards and procedures, and performs facility and job site inspections to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, regulations, or departmental safety policies and procedures. Participates, as necessary, in the preparation and monitoring of budget and contracts/contractors, and in the implementation of the departmental budget; and recommends and justifies capital expenditures. Conducts accident and incident investigations to determine root causes, and develops plans to prevent recurrence by inspecting or reviewing areas, equipment, processes, and work activities for hazardous conditions. Provides advice and counsel to management and other employee groups on a broad range of occupational safety issues and decisions. Develops and conducts occupational safety training for various workgroups, including evaluation and modification of programs to meet Local, State, and Federal OSHA requirements. Coordinates occupational safety activities which may include conducting safety drills, inspections, investigations, or other safety program events. Directs and reviews the analysis of accident or injury data by identifying trends, creating related reports, and including financial impact in an effort to develop proposed solutions to problems and identify the needs for new or modified occupational safety programs. Researches occupational safety information to assure the best available methods and equipment are adopted to minimize the hazards in the work place.
