Position Description

Tacoma Power's Generation Section is looking for a Hydro Mechanical Engineer (Power Systems Engineer, Principal) to provide expert mechanical engineering services for capital and maintenance projects at its hydroelectric and fisheries facilities. This senior-level role will apply comprehensive knowledge in the operation, maintenance, repair, and enhancement of mechanical systems and equipment critical to Generation. As a Professional Engineer and subject matter expert, you will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of Tacoma Power's generating resources and fisheries operations, contributing to the organization’s mission of sustained resource availability and operational excellence.. This role will be filled at a Power Systems Engineer, PE Principal level ($143,312.00 - $201,801.60 Annually ).

This position supports the mission of the organization by ensuring continued availability of generating resources and fisheries operations.

Qualifications

Minimum Education*
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or directly related field. Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Minimum Experience*
5 years of experience in power engineering including 2 years as a licensed professional engineer working in the electrical power industry.

Other Employment Information

Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.

Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
