Full-time position available with the City Planning & Development Department, Permits Division located at 414 East 12th Street
Salary Range: $20.48-$30.71/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Assists the Permits Division in the administrative development and execution of operational processes, code administration procedures, and customer service inquiries.
- Acts as liaison to internal and external department requests in matters pertaining to the Permits Division manager and branch supervisors.
- Provides administrative support to the permitting division such as maintaining supplies and technology resources.
- Performs special assignments and submits reports, consults on information bulletins revisions and updates, assists in creating and updating standard operating procedures.
- Tracks long term projects on specialized operational issues.
- Ensures records retention for the Permits Division are updated and maintained.
- Assists with sunshine requests for multiple workgroups within the division.
- Manages calendars and meeting schedules for the division.
- Assists the division manager in organizational tasks and responding to customer inquiries.
- Assists with purchase orders for supplies and training for the division.
- Assists with scheduling and hosting Development Assistance Team (DAT) meetings.
- Serves as backup staff support to the Building and Fire Codes Board of Appeals.
- Provides prompt and effective customer service by phone, in person, and by email on all matters managed by the division.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES 2 years of increasingly responsible experience in the operation of heavy and complex construction and maintenance equipment. Must possess a valid state -issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. May be required to possess a valid MO Class A, B, or C CDL prior to the end of the employee's probationary period as determined by the department. If moving from a non-safety-sensitive position, must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
