The City of Fort Worth Transportation Public Works is seeking a Senior Administrative Assistant to support management, and operational teams. The Streets & Stormwater Operations division is responsible for improving, operating and maintaining various components of the City’s Streets and Storm Water systems. This position will provide support through administrative activities such as contracts, procurement, and budget.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, human resources or a related field
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative and fiscal management experience in support of a department, division, or major service area
- One (1) year in a supervisory or lead capacity
Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of governmental accounting, budgeting and forecasting
- Experience in purchasing policies and supporting purchasing activities
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials (or similar ERP systems), Questica (or similar budgeting software)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills
- Understand Principles of supervision and employee performance
- Experience working in Transportation Programs and government contracts.
The Sr. Administrative Assistant's job responsibilities include: - Coordinating with staff and Legal department with the development and improvement of agreements and contracts
- Proficient in monitoring contract compliance through various methods and techniques
- Oversees division purchasing procedures by monitoring requests from divisions
- Supervise staff performing duties related to Procurement and Contracts within divisions.
- Monitor contract or compliance with contract specifications; assist with investigation and verification of complaints and vendor work order completed.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Records Management that supports the retention requirements for contract management.
- Strong governmental accounting, can analyze and resolve complex financial issues. Fiscal duties in support include budget management, purchasing, accounts payable, and forecasting.
Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.
Physical Demand Sedentary Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
