The board has an immediate opening for a paralegal position. Candidates must have good, effective communication skills, be self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, make routine decisions, organize workflow and establish priorities and deadlines.
- Responsible for drafting pleadings, agreements and correspondence;
- Obtaining, reviewing and processing court documents and maintaining files and docket systems;
- Compiling data as requested by the Board’s attorney or executive director;
- Performing legal research and preparing memoranda stating facts and conclusions of research;
- Assisting attorneys in preparing for hearings;
- Preparing disciplinary orders
- Composing correspondence involving the interpretation of agency rules, regulations and program responsibility.
- Maintain a filing system and prepare records for digital imaging.
What we are looking for: Minimum Qualifications - An Associate degree in paralegal studies or closely related field; one-three years of experience in a legal environment preferably in reviewing official documents such as claims, applications, or legal documentation; and a paralegal certification; OR five or more years of experience in a legal environment.
- Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university in the areas of business or public administration may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
- Knowledge of computer applications such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
