Description
DescriptionCURRENT VACANCIES ARE IN THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS/DIVISIONS: Recreation and Parks Department.
THE POSITION: Clerk Typist I: Under immediate supervision, performs routine and repetitive typing and clerical duties; and performs other work as required.
Clerk Typist II: Under general supervision, performs general typing and a variety of moderately difficult clerical work; and performs other work as required.
Representative DutiesThe following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of this class. They are descriptive, not limiting.
Essential Duties: Clerk Typist I - Types letters, reports, case records, invoices, requisitions, and other material from copy or draft; may type from machine transcription; sorts and files papers, bills, receipts, and a variety of documents; searches files for specified information; receives and routes correspondence; receives the public and provides routine factual information;
Clerk Typist II - Prepares and types agendas, reports, and similar documents for departmental purposes; maintains ledger records of departmental credits, provides procedural and specific information on unit work cases or assignments; directs calls to department units; issues permits and licenses. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applications will be accepted

Clerk Typist I: - Graduated from high school or attained a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. test, OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the capabilities to perform the described duties.
Clerk Typist II: - In addition to the above, experience in responsible and varied clerical and typing work
Highly Desirables: - Bilingual Certified
- Customer Service Experience
- Program Coordination Experience
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT: Applicants MUST submit a copy of a current typing certificate dated within the last two years of the filing deadline certifying 40 NET WORDS PER MINUTE . Note: We WILL accept typing certificates obtained on-line. Click here for typing certificate locations.
Examination (Weighted: 100%) EXAMINATION: ORAL APPRAISAL INTERVIEW (Weighted 100%): January 23-24, 2025 (Tentative) An appraisal will be made of the applicant's experience, education, training, certification, knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal qualifications for the position. A minimum passing score of 70% is required.
NOTE: Admission to the Examination may be limited to those applicants who demonstrate the best combination of qualifications. Applicants possessing the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed admittance to the Examination. VACATION: Accrual rate is determined by bargaining unit.
1-4 years of service: 10 days per year.
5-13 years of service: 15 days per year.
14+ years of service: 20 days per year.
VACATION - FIRE SAFETY SHIFT PERSONNEL ONLY:
1-4 years of service: 4.68 (24-hr. duty shifts)
5-15 years of service: 7.02 (24-hr. duty shifts)
16+ years of service: 9.36 (24-hr. duty shifts)
HOLIDAYS: 13 paid holidays per year.
SICK LEAVE: Earned at the rate of one working day per month of service to a maximum of 120 days; portions therafter may be convertible.
ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE: 10 days per year for General Supervisory and Management employees.

RETIREMENT: Benefits are provided by the City's participation in the Public Employee's Retirement System (PERS). 2% @ 62 for new hire Miscellaneous and 2.7% @ 57 for Safety (Fire & Police). Visit the City's Retirement websitefor additional information.
