What You'll Be DoingThe
Communicable Disease Technician is a part of the
Human Services Department/Immunization Tracking Team.
Essential Functions: - Track and update immunization information of Wake County children three years of age and younger
- Promote immunization compliance among children 19 to 35 months of age by tracking patients in a specific geographic area
- Prepare for annual immunization assessment by the NCIP
- Provide system training and support to North Carolina Immunization Registry (NCIR) users at Wake County Human Services
- Participate in clinic events and assist with team activities
- Assist Public Health Division in the event of a disease outbreak, natural or man-made disaster or other public health response or initiative as indicated. Those duties are accomplished by: Tracking a specific cohort for compliance as outlined in the NC Immunization Program Agreement Addenda
- Support team to meet stated strategic goals and outcomes
- Respond to requests from the public, community medical providers and Wake County staff for information or assistance as needed to promote immunization, public health and safety
- Assist with receipt and distribution of vaccine supply, and help to ensure access and continuity of NC Immunization Registry at WCHS
- Respond to requests by the Health Director for specific initiatives or projects

Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - High school diploma or GED
- No specific experience required
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Experience with the NC Immunization Registry (NCIR)
- At least two years general or medical office experience
- Public Health experience
- Strong Excel and Microsoft office suite
- Spanish language skills
- Electronic Health records experience
