Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or equivalent and a minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience.

This position is assigned to the Tacoma Police Department. Positions in this classification must pass a thorough background investigation and will include fingerprinting, a polygraph test, and pre-employment drug screening.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous work experience in or with law enforcement in a support or administrative role.

LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and ACCESS certification is required within 30 days of appointment with recertification on a biennial basis.

Additional licenses, certifications, training and/or travel may be required.

New employees must successfully complete a twelve-month probationary period prior to obtaining permanent status in this classification. This position is covered by a Labor Agreement between the City of Tacoma and Local 117.

Other Employment Information

Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.

Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
