What You'll Be Doing

Do you enjoy meeting new people and providing excellent customer service? Work with Wake County Inspections, as part of the Plans and Permitting Division! We are recruiting for a Plans and Permits Technician that will be the first point of contact for the public who desire construction permits. The permitting team consists of five staff members, who work on a rotating hybrid schedule (some remote and some in-office days) as determined by the department supervisor. This position will assist in the preparation of residential building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, well and wastewater, pool, and other permits while interpreting applicable local ordinances, state statutes, and federal laws.

This position provides general information to the public in person, by telephone, and email, and involves performing inquiries, data entry, telephone communications, maintaining records, reconciling revenues collected, and maintaining financial records. Scheduling and records are maintained within an electronic permitting software, and there requires some computer skills and knowledge. Apply today!

About Our Team

Wake County Permits and Inspections is responsible for permitting and inspection of construction in the unincorporated areas of Wake County as well as the Raleigh-Durham International Airport, Research Triangle Park and provides inspections services to the towns of Knightdale, Rolesville, Wendell and Zebulon.
