Position Summary

Within the Center for Equity and Excellence in Teaching and Learning, the Teaching and Learning Specialist is responsible for ensuring CEETL’s faculty development curriculum is relevant, current and effective in improving teaching and learning in support of student success. This position requires experience in qualitative and quantitative-based research in order to provide customer support to senior level management, departments, and faculty that includes, but is not limited to, generating reports, program development activities, routine data maintenance, data backups, troubleshooting, systems training, and statistical testing. In communication & collaboration with, and in support of a rotating CEETL Faculty Directors and Fellows, this position uses rigorous, evidence-based methods to assess faculty development offerings across the CEETL curriculum, identifying gaps, strengths and opportunities; applies inclusive, equity-minded instructional design strategies to develop robust faculty development offerings that promote high-impact, innovative and evidence-based teaching and learning experiences in all teaching modalities; and assesses the impact of the CEETL curriculum student learning and overall success, implementing continuous improvement processes in response. Work in collaboration with faculty and academic units to actively pursue and encourage projects that improve classroom experiences for students.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate or equivalent experience preferred. Multimodal higher education teaching experience. Experience developing and/or conducting formal faculty and student training and support programs related to content sharing, engagement, and assessment. Knowledge of, and proficiency in, standard open-source and proprietary software applications used at SF State, including Canvas (Moodle), CourseStream (Echo360), ePortfolios (Portfolium), Drupal, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, research databases and other educational productivity and presentation programs. Environmental/Physical/Special

Must be able to work on site 3 days per week. Open office environment and on-campus facilities will be the major venue for this position. May involve carrying or lifting equipment, which can also be pushed or pulled using a cart. Work schedule may change at times to ensure delivery of campus services, and the work week will be adjusted accordingly. Evening and weekend shifts may be required. May require some off-campus travel. In the interest of projecting a positive image to the constituents we serve, all employees must be professionally, neatly and appropriately attired for the work to be done.
