Description
Duties Description Under the direction of the Park Manager, the selected candidate will be assisting the office manager for Mills-Norrie. The park consists of over 1,000 acres, including a golf course, marina, campground, historic site, historic buildings, residences, hiking trails and river view picnic areas. The employee responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Responding to phone calls and email and prioritizing office’s critical needs and communicating them to park management.
• Ordering, purchasing, processing payments as well as receiving, distributing, and inventorying supplies, materials, and equipment.
• Entering computer data, such as park attendance, SFS, BETS, DOCU-Sign, reviewing employee payroll and timecard submission, training employees to use LATS and other programs as needed.
• Maintaining records, including those pertaining to daily maintenance, hazardous trees, trucks, automated external defibrillators (AED), fire extinguishers, site supplies and inventory (asset works and asset cloud.)
• Completing hiring paperwork for seasonal employees and submitting it to personnel.
• Assisting in emergency situations by applying emergency procedures and practices, supporting, and directing staff and working with patrons to minimize potential problems.
• Scheduling annual and semi-annual inspections for the Taconic Regional Office and Norrie Point Environmental center.
• Complete audits of both park and concessions.
• Assisting with facility events which may consist of traffic control and parking of vehicles.
• Training employees in proper cash handling and revenue collection.
• Assisting in other areas of park operations as needed.
• Acting independently with minimum supervision.
Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive Qualifications:
One year of experience* in the operation and/or maintenance of a park, historic site, golf course, or recreational facility. In addition to operations and maintenance, the following types of experience are also qualifying: law enforcement or security, firefighting, environmental education, environmental stewardship, natural resource management, forest management, wildlife management or preservation, or historic preservation or interpretation; OR
One year of military service in any of the military branches; OR
An Associate’s or higher-level degree**, or 60 credit hours of college level coursework; OR
Completion of an appropriate two-year technical/trades school program or two years' experience as a trades assistant under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson.
*If verifiable, we will accept and prorate part-time and volunteer experience.
**Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. Additional Comments Operational Needs:
• Must possess and maintain a valid a US Driver’s License as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be able to operate light duty trucks and UTV’s.
• Must have the ability to supervise other employees.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons.
• Must have the ability to communicate in writing and to read and comprehend written material.
• Must possess experience with Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Must be available to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed

Additional location pay is available for the following counties: Bronx, Kings, Nassau, NYC-Manhattan, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, and Westchester, Dutchess, Orange, and Putnam.
This position may require a background check and/or medical exam prior to appointment.
Work schedule is Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-4:00 PM; including occasional weekends, nights and holidays.
