The Department:

Silicon Valley Power (SVP) currently provides over 700 Megawatts of power to residential and business customers within Santa Clara’s 19 square mile service territory, of which 40 percent comes from carbon-free renewable resources. In addition to using green energy from large-scale wind, solar, geothermal and hydroelectric projects outside of the area, SVP employs innovative ways to locally produce electricity by operating Simple Cycle and Combined Cycle power plants within city-limits. It is the mission of SVP to be a progressive, service-oriented utility, offering reliable, competitively priced services for the benefit of Santa Clara and its customers. The Position:

The Senior Electric Division Manager is a key leadership position reporting to the Assistant Director of Electric Utility. The Senior Division Manager has the responsibility of overseeing all aspects of Substation maintenance, construction, and electric metering for the City’s growing infrastructure of 115/60/12 kV substations and customer-dedicated junctions.

The Position provides overall direction to Division Managers and staff responsible for coordinating the work of IBEW Local 1245 crews in connection with the installation, modification, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of substation equipment including transformers, switches, breakers, wiring, electrical meters, protective relays, communication equipment, and related components.

As part of Utility Operations, the Substation & Metering Division works closely with engineering, generation, transmission/distribution field personnel, and the SVP electric control center operators to plan, schedule, and execute both routine maintenance and high-visibility construction projects throughout the city.

As a member of the City's Unclassified Service, this is an "at-will" position and the incumbent serves at the discretion of the City Manager.

The annual salary range for this position is $240,197.04 - $310,872.24. This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.
