Assistant County Veteran Service Officer
Description
Position Description: Duties:
Assist the Lead Service Officer with Department of Veterans Affairs benefits and daily operations at the Pataskala office.
Serve as the first point of contact for clients, handling check-ins, phone calls and walk-ins.
Prepare VA documents and coordinate with external agencies to obtain records.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the office; track supplies and mail.
Provide referrals and public information to veterans and dependents.
Support veterans’ functions and community outreach, including parades and special events (some evenings and weekends required).
Upon completion of training must be eligible and able to become an Accredited County Veteran Service Officer through the Ohio Department of Veterans Services (ODVS) with cross-accreditation from all National Veterans Service Organizations as required by ODVS.

Job Prerequisites: Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a former member of the armed forces of the United States who served on active military duty and received an honorable discharge or honor separation, per Ohio Revised Code 5901.01.
High school diploma or GED required; one to three years of related administrative experience preferred.
Possess a valid Ohio driver’s license (driving is an essential function of this position).
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and office equipment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational, interviewing and interpersonal skills.
Compensation: Pay Rate: $30.21 per hour - Starting
