Description
This is a senior-level position responsible for coordinating all areas of communication for SEMA, which coordinates state responses to emergencies, along with leading in planning for and educating Missourians about disasters. Duties include developing and implementing SEMA’s communication strategies; preparing news releases, other written materials, photography, and social media messaging; updating webpages and creating video content, and assisting in the coordination of public outreach efforts.
The SEMA Public Relations Manager is also responsible for participating in a variety preparedness exercises and planning events that are designed to prepare for well-coordinated responses to natural disasters. The position also includes working with local partners to utilize best practices in public information and warning messaging, including in some areas of public health.
This is a unique opportunity to work in coordination with a variety of high-level state, local and federal emergency management professionals to communicate important messages to the public during the response to and recovery from disasters.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
Preferred qualifications include writing news releases, photography, video production and managing social media accounts. Salary:
$68,000.00-$91,482.72 per Year
