Youth Program Coordinator position might be the perfect opportunity for you. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in the continued development of the Fort Worth Public Library’s innovative Lifelong Learning Division, which supports a system of 20 libraries that offer over 10,000 public programs annually. This position is responsible for leading development and implementation of programming for children from birth to fifth grade, with a particular emphasis on staff training, mentoring, and management of large-scale projects. The Library Youth Program Coordinator supervises a team of youth-focused programming staff and works closely with peer managers within Lifelong Learning, as well as the Community Outreach and Branch Services divisions.

Minimum Qualifications: - Master's Degree from an ALA accredited college or university with major course work in Library Science.
- Four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional library experience.
- Two (2) years of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications: - Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Texas driver’s license.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing youth programs in a library setting.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in early literacy and library services for school-age children.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel to various locations as needed.
- Experience managing large-scale library programs, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
- Proficiency in program evaluation, including outcome-based planning and assessment.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Experience leading staff training and professional development initiatives.
- Proven ability to build sustainable community partnerships.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to influence and guide teams without direct authority.
The Youth Program Coordinator’s job responsibilities include: - Championing the Library’s strategic goals and initiatives with the system’s mission, vision and core values in mind.
- Managing staff on the systemwide Youth Services team.
- Providing leadership and support for staff who plan and implement youth programs at all Library locations, including identifying and vetting potential presenters and coordinating program evaluation.
- Developing and providing ongoing professional development opportunities for youth-serving staff throughout the system.
- Cultivating community relationships and official partnerships and participates in planning and coordinating library programs and services with other community institutions and agencies; promotes the use of system resources and services through communication with community agencies, organizations, and groups.
- Defining, establishing, and reinforcing programming quality standards across the system.
- Utilizing outcome-based planning and evaluation for program planning.
- Encouraging staff to be forward-thinking, try new ideas, experiment and to embrace change.
Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.
Physical Demand Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
