Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS)
The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department consists of different programs and divisions including the Recreation Division and Senior & Social Services. These divisions provide a variety of programs for children, young adults, seniors and residents with disabilities. Program activities include homework assistance, computer lab, crafts and games, special events and more.
THE POSITION The City of Culver City is accepting online applications for Recreation Leader I, in the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department. *Please note the job posting will remain continuously open for applicants to apply* GENERAL DUTIES:- Under close supervision, assists with facilitation of youth programs such as seasonal camps and after-school programs, leads and oversees recreation activities at a playground or other recreation facility, and encourages participants' interest in arts, games, sports, dance, crafts, table games, and special events.
- Exercises responsibility for the issuance, care, and use of recreation supplies and equipment.
- Maintains control at the location to which assigned.
- Under close supervision, prepares the recreational facility for sports games including lining fields, keeping scores, maintaining statistics, and officiating on occasion.
- Assists in the operation of leagues, tournaments, meets, and the daily programmed activities at the recreation facility.
- Collects money for concessions.
- Keeps the facility in a clean and orderly condition, ensuring supplies are adequately stocked.
- Set up and breakdown of rooms scheduled for meetings and/or recreational activities and events in a timely manner.
- Performs related duties as required.
WORK SCHEDULE:Part -time hours working approximately up to 28 hours a week. Schedules will vary depending on the needs of the department.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the knowledge, skill and ability would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skill and ability would be:
Candidates must be at least fifteen years of age and possess a valid work permit, as applicable.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATE(S):
Candidate will be required to possess certifications in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within one (1) month of employment.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURESSuitability for the position will be evaluated by an application review. This evaluation will be qualifying, i.e., it will determine who will be invited to the *Oral Appraisal Interview.
