Disaster Preparedness Stores Specialists*, who plan, organize, and maintain the operations of a warehouse, a major segment of a large warehouse, and/or storage facility. Stores Specialists order, receive, and inspect a variety of supplies, materials, parts, equipment and furniture; review and verify accuracy of shipping documents; enter/process invoices for stock; contact vendors and departments to coordinate the ordering and delivery of parts and items; fill requisitions; operate material handling equipment; perform periodic inventory; and maintain electronic inventory systems. In addition Stores Specialists manage rolling stock with preventative maintenance and keep in a state of readiness for deployment.
The
Office of Emergency Services (County OES) is responsible for countywide emergency planning, mitigation, response and recovery activities. The OES works with all County departments and 24 cities, and many non-government organizations. In the event of an emergency, the OES manages the County's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and coordinates the County's disaster response with local, state and federal governments. The Director of Emergency Services oversees the day-to-day administration of the County's disaster preparedness and response program and development of the County's Emergency Operations Plan. One of the primary functions is to ensure that the EOC is in a constant state of readiness.

Incumbents must be physically able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds, stand, bend, squat, kneel, twist, turn, and stoop. Based upon assignment, employees may be required to work outside continuously and are exposed to electricity, chemicals, heat, oil, odors, dust, gas, and noise.
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation and verification of employment history and education.

Minimum RequirementsExperience: Two (2) years of full-time experience routinely performing at least two (2) of the following duties: receiving, storing, issuing, or inventorying materials in a
warehouse environment.
Note: Department store or general storefront inventory is
not considered qualifying experience .
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have two (2) years of full-time experience performing general warehouse operations as described above and will have an Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) certification for power lifting devices (forklift certification).
