The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Street Maintenance Supervisor. This is a full-time, regular, non-exempt position. The position is scheduled to work on a 4/10 schedule.

Who we are
The Public Works Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City's capital projects, streets and traffic operations. The Public Works team oversees the planning, design, installation, maintenance, and operation of all signs, pavement markings, traffic signals, intelligent transportation systems, and roadway lighting for all City Streets. This includes 238 signalized intersections, 800 traffic cameras, 29,000 streetlights, 22,000 regulatory and warning signs, and 275 miles of roadway striping. Maintenance of over 2,090 lane miles of streets and 130 miles of alleys requiring asphalt patching, repair and replacement of curbs and gutters, sidewalk repair, and debris removal. We also oversee the acquisition of professional services, design, construction, and construction management for transportation, utilities, community services, and other general government improvements.

Who we are looking for
Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone to supervise staff who maintain and repair city streets, rights-of-ways, alleys, storm drain systems, retention basins, parking lots, pavement preservation, and other related concrete features in compliance with applicable regulations and specifications, as well as respond to hazards. Duties include supervision of daily operations of the assigned areas by setting goals and objectives, managing schedules and work priorities, monitoring and evaluating performance, facilitating access to resources and training, performing site visits, managing contracts, providing guidance and addressing complex issues, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions.

Minimum qualifications
• A High School Diploma or GED and some college-level course work; and
• 5 years of experience in municipal street construction and maintenance including 2 years of lead or supervisory experience; and
• 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification within 6 months of hire or promotion; and
• a Maricopa County Dust Control Certification within 6 months of hire or promotion; and
• a valid Drivers License with an acceptable driving record (CDL not required); or
• any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications
• Knowledge of asphalt and concrete paying methods and materials.

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.
The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, a reference check and a driving record check as a condition of employment.
