Digital Forensics Analyst
Description
The Information Technology Division of the Missouri State Public Defender Office is seeking a full-time Digital Forensics Analyst to join our exciting team-based work environment. The individual will assist the Digital Forensic Specialist by collecting digital evidence from a variety of sources including computers, mobile devices, cloud accounts and other electronic equipment. The position is based in Columbia, Missouri at the Woodrail Center.
Duties include using digital forensic tools to collect, analyze and preserve digital evidence from a variety of sources; identifying patterns and trends within digital evidence; preparing documents to report findings and conclusions; maintaining a chain of custody for digital evidence; collaborating with other MSPD team members throughout the state of Missouri; complying with legal and ethical guidelines related to the handling of digital evidence.
Travel within Missouri is required, including occasional overnight travel. The individual is required to maintain a valid driver’s license and have a personal vehicle available with reimbursement for mileage. Use of a rental vehicle is available, as well as a state-owned vehicle. Other travel expenses are covered in accordance with state travel regulations.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in information technology, criminal justice or closely related field OR high school graduation equivalency plus four years of experience in one of the following areas: 1) activities related to investigations or closely related areas; 2) four years of clerical experience, of which two years must have involved specialized work in investigative activities.
Preferred qualities include successful previous experience with investigation of digital evidence, including capturing and preserving data with forensic tools; experience with and knowledge of computer and IT systems; experience with mobile devices, social media platforms and cloud accounts; ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing; current digital forensic certifications.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the following: Cellebrite UFED; Cellebrite Inseyets; Cellebrite Cloud; Cellebrite Physical Analyzer; Oxygen Forensic Detective: Magnet Axiom; Magnet Witness; FTK; Axon Investigate; Cellhawk CDR Mapping
Salary is variable dependent upon education and experience.
