Job Location: Statewide. The Administrative Hearing Commission is a quasi-judicial administrative tribunal based in Jefferson City, Missouri, but this role can be performed from other locations in Missouri.

The Missouri Administrative Hearing Commission has an immediate opening for a Missouri licensed attorney. Legal Counsel responsibilities include preparing draft decisions/orders, providing legal advice to commissioners and staff, and other duties as assigned.

This role demands strong research and writing skills to support commissioners in analyzing legal issues and drafting orders and decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Missouri bar license in good standing
• Trustworthiness with confidential information
• Excellent legal research and writing skills
• Self-motivation, critical thinking, and ability to work with a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Westlaw, and Adobe Acrobat

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

• Experience in administrative law, regulatory law, or general civil litigation
• Experience in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, state tax law, pre-trial motions, Medicaid provider law, and/or professional licensing
• Experience as a hearing officer, judicial law clerk, or administrative-law clerk
• Ability to learn new computer systems
