The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our Streets team as a Traffic Signals Senior Technician. This is a regular full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. The position is scheduled to work 4 x10, Tuesday through Friday. The hours are 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Remote work is not available.

Who we are

The Public Works Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City's capital projects, streets and traffic operations. The Public Works team oversees the planning, design, installation, maintenance and operation of all signs, pavement marking's, traffic signals, intelligent transportation systems and roadway lighting for all City Streets. This includes 238 signalized intersections, 800 traffic cameras, 29,000 streetlights, 22,000 regulatory and warning signs and 275 miles of roadway striping. Maintenance of over 2,090 lane miles of streets and 130 miles of alley's requiring asphalt patching, repair and replacement of curbs and gutters, sidewalk repair, debris removal and maintenance of landscaping in the City's right of ways. We also oversee the acquisition of professional services, design, construction and construction management for transportation, utilities, community services and other general government improvements.

Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are seeking an individual to troubleshoot traffic control devices, and to repair, maintain, and install Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), as well as to perform various tasks related to street pavement marking projects.

Minimum qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED and some additional technical training or related coursework ; and
• 2 years of experience as a Traffic Signal & Street Lights Technician with the City of Chandler or 3 years of experience with traffic signal maintenance; or experience as a City employee in a maintenance position within the organization may substitute as qualified experience ; and
• Obtain and maintain an International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Work Zone Safety Certification within six (6) months of hire or promotion; and
• Obtain an IMSA Roadway Lighting Level 1 Certification within one (1) year of hire or promotion; and
• Obtain and maintain an IMSA Traffic Signal Level 2 Certification within one (1) year of hire or promotion; and
• Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record; and
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.
