Position Overview

*This is an open and continuous recruitment which will close without notice once a sufficient pool of highly-qualified candidates has been created. Assessments will occur on an ongoing basis.

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Mental Health and Wellness Program Manager in the City's Department of Emergency Management. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.

Under limited supervision, provides support, assistance, information, marketing, training, education, and counseling to assist City of Henderson employees in coping with mental health wellness-related concerns and stress management; and performs related duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this role is a highly-skilled professional with extensive experience in mental health. They also have experience in leading a team, program management, and working with first responders or military services. They possess a deep understanding of crisis intervention, behavioral health support, and strategies to proactively help first responders’ and city employees’ overall wellness. They are adept at assessing risk, de-escalating crises, and developing proactive approaches to address mental health needs within the public safety and government sector.

Note: This position supports all employees at the City of Henderson including the Fire and Police Departments which operate on a 24-hour/7-day per week schedule. This position will be required to respond to urgent situations at night, on weekends, and on holidays.
