The City of Larkspur is a suburb of San Francisco, located just two miles south of San Rafael, with a population of 12,500. Incorporated in March of 1908, Larkspur was voted one of the best places to live in California, offering residents an urban suburban mix feel with many fantastic restaurants, coffee shops, and recreation opportunities. Nestled at the base of beautiful Mount Tamalpais, the City has a quaint and small town feel with several parks, sporting options, and world-renowned hiking trails. The Community Development Director plans, organizes, administers, reviews, and evaluates all the functions of the Community Development Department. This position exercises significant discretion, within legal and general policy and regulatory guidelines, and independently develops and implements departmental policies, procedures, and services. The City is seeking a collaborative, approachable, and engaged candidate to serve as the next Community Development Director. The ideal candidate should have the ability to learn and utilize new technology; monitor and maintain quality control standards; and select, manage, develop and train assigned staff. A candidate who has experience in delegating work and who is comfortable with the public and a variety of commissions will do well in this role.

The annual salary range for the Community Development Director is $156,408 to $209,604.  Placement within this range is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
