Incorporated in 1880, the Town of Crested Butte serves a year-round population of 1,700 across 0.8 square miles with a 2025 budget of $31 million and a team of 60 FTEs. The Town operates under the Council-Manager form of government with a Town Council comprised of six council members and a mayor who are elected at large. Departments include Administration; Clerks; Community Development; Finance & Administrative Services; Marshal’s Department; Parks, Recreation, Open Space & Trails (PROST); Public Works, and Sustainability.
THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DIRECTOR
Reporting to the Town Manager, the Finance & Administrative Services Director is a key member of the Town’s management team. This position is responsible for all financial record-keeping, budgeting and reporting required under Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S.) and the Crested Butte Municipal Code. The Director plans, directs and coordinates all activities relating to billings, revenue collections, vendor payments, payroll and related taxes, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, debt management, and investments. The Director also performs or oversees administrative functions including human resources and information technology systems. The Director directly supervises a staff of five and coordinates and oversees the work of information technology consultants and, from time to time, other independent contractors.
